![]() It’s a long season, and if we want to fight for the championship, we have to keep improving. We’re starting the season strong, the best we’ve had since I’ve been with the Team. ![]() We lost downforce with the floor, but I think we lost a bit less than other teams and it shows that we made a good step forward. I’m happy with what we have with the RB16B, it’s faster, it has more grip and better balance. It’s always tricky to know what’s going to happen but it felt like I had a good launch, I didn’t maximise performance on the Saturday so it definitely felt good to lead the race from Turn 1. We also know that it’s a very long season, so we just have to stay very focussed and I am always looking ahead, Imola wasn’t perfect so we have to keep pushing. ![]() There were definitely a few things that we wanted to learn from the Bahrain race, which we did, and we could bring home the win. It was of course great to win, after missing out in Bahrain it felt very satisfying to win the race in Imola. I quite like it, as the sessions are more intense. It hasn’t changed our work programme, but it does mean the track is busier with more cars out at the same time, so there is a bit more action and you spend less time waiting in the garage. So, we will face a different challenge to the ones from the first two races.Īfter two races, we are now used to only having an hour for each free practice session. We will be running the C1 hard tyres and last year, especially in FP1 they were very hard to warm up, but this time we have a bit more knowledge and experience and the weather will certainly be warmer this year. It’s fun driving there and very different to what we’re used to - as a low grip track, the car slides a lot and it’s not easy to get the tyres up to temperature. It’s a really unique circuit with all the gradient changes, going up and down like a rollercoaster. Last year I had a good race in Portimao, finishing fifth. We’ll discuss it as a team and see how we can make sure it doesn’t happen again. ![]() Seventh in the race is still a good result, even if we know we should have done better. We were in the top ten for all free practice sessions and were again in the top five in Qualifying - three and a half tenths off the pole time - which must be one of the best Qualifying times for the team. You’ll need to hold on to your brakes for a long period before taking the turn, so turn down the value of brake pressure.Looking back at the last round in Imola, there are some positives to take away from what was a disappointing weekend in terms of the result. With the excess of turns at every corner, you’ll need to maximize your car’s braking power. You need a lot more downforce than before to conquer the map. Since F1 2021 Monaco track is all about making sharp turns, traction will play a huge role on this map. Instead, you need to focus on all the right things that we’ll be showing you below. So, there is no need to maximize your transmission for high-speed driving. There are only two straights where you can speed through, followed by long corners. But in reality, it’s pretty much the same as the Hungary Track in F1 2021. It’s because of a lot of change in directions and few straight lines. Most of the players that see the Monaco track in F1 2021 for the first time during the Career mode will skip it.
